COVID positive on placement

I was covid positive on 25.12.20 I hadn’t felt much until 30.12.20. I had to call in sick to placement as I’ve had prolonged symptoms. I’ve emailed my mentor nearly everyday to keep them updated and I even got a sick note to prove the fact I’m still ill. It’s been a tough slog but I feel like I need to force myself back next week as I’ve felt it’s been a bad impression that I haven’t joined in anything even though it’s been all online.

I sent my mentor an email today saying I still don’t feel well enough to atttend online lessons tomorrow to observe and I said I’m very sorry. Am I doing the right thing?

Thoughts? Any advice is really appreciated here.

If you're not well enough, you're not well enough. Keep everyone involved informed. When does your sick note run out?

Runs out on Friday. I feel guilty that I’m missing out I don’t want to make anyone annoyed

Quite frankly, we have enough to be annoyed about without being annoyed about you. And I mean that kindly.

Yes that fine. I’m not particularly offended but I’m
Sure if you had such a disruptive training year like many of us have had the last thing you want to do is make this kind of an impression on your new placement.

Honestly, as a long standing mentor, I've seen it all! You can't help being ill. Now if you were lying to me about your house being flooded, that would be another matter... that trainee I was not very polite to.

Oh gosh no. That’s not good at all. I backed everything up with a sick note even though they don’t need it It’s better for them to have. I’ve also kept my uni tutor up to date so that there’s a trail of people at all points that know. Plus I email my mentor as often as possible just to give her an update. I guess you’re right I really can’t help feeling I’ll. and as covid is so new I didn’t realise recovery would be so up and down.

:) she failed to realise that I knew she lived on a hill which I lived at the bottom of. If she was flooded, I was drowned.
Just take things easy - if you're up to doing parts of days, suggest that. If not, try not to worry.
