Should I change my job?

Over 20 years in the same school. An opportunity has come up teaching a Further Education College. Currently work in a tough school but it is local and familiar. At times it is overwhelming so I work part time. This new job is mainly via remote learning. Much longer hours but a huge promotion. There is no chance of progression where I am. I think it will be a huge boost for my confidence and happiness in many ways but the workload could be tough. I have young children in school and also concerned I may have to home school them. I have childcare options though. What would you do?

Due to covid restrictions changing schools may close in our area.

Meant to add i have the option of coming back to my job if it doesn't work out.

I think that your first sentence says it all - over 20 years in the same school! Surely time for a change? And the option of returning - nothing to lose really.

You know parrot as I wrote the thread I was asking myself what a silly question. My fears are workload (but I like work and am organised) and the level of technology. Using remote resources. But I can use YouTube tutorials and dh is tech expert and patient so will assist if needed. There will be an element of travel involved if the remote aspect changes but not likely until Autumn.

The thing is, we’re all learning the tech stuff and it means loads of opportunity to get better at it.
I’m starting a new job next week. I have moved every 3-5 years (23 years altogether) and love the variety and the way I learn different things in each place and can bring experience to each role.
Not to say I’m not a bit nervous though!

Go for it. My last job was a support role in a FE college and all the teachers there said they were so much happier. It had a nicer vibe.
