Accidentally swore in front of pupils?

I was struggling to get paper from a notepad today and under my breathe said ‘bloody hell’ in front of some year 7 pupils. I Don’t know if they heard they didn’t say anything or seem like they did but do I need to tell someone?

I think they’ll live. In the nicest possible way, I think you’re overthinking this. They are year 7 students, they probably don’t even think of “bloody hell” as swearing. There is honestly no need to tell anyone about it, I can’t imagine anyone batting an eyelid.

I farted in front of my year 8s today. Not a subtle one, but a full on trump. Couldn't even pretend, it was so loud. As a science teacher I decided to explain the science of farts. I'm awaiting the parent emails😂😂.

@mumsneedwine Grin. Oh my!!!

OP I’ve said worse (accidentally). It’s been fine, and I’ve even gone up their in estimations afterwards lol!!!

I was thinking you said fuck. You'll be fine with what you said.

I was fine saying fuck rather loudly when some ceiling tiles and some metal fell on my head. Apparently that was ok. Now I just say fuck behind my mask all day Grin

Cracklefraggle · 03/12/2020 21:38

In my earlier days I once shouted so loud at a kid that I peed myself a little bit BlushHe wore it like a badge of honour Grin.

Cracklefraggle · 03/12/2020 21:39

Just read that back!!! He wore the moment not the pee Grin

mumsneedwine · 03/12/2020 21:49

Best thing about masks? I can say bollocks without anyone noticing 😇

PenOrPencil · 03/12/2020 22:00

A friend of mine - definitely not me, no! - said “for fuck’s sake” a little bit too loudly in a Year 11 class recently.

I have to agree, though, that a mask can mask a multitude of swear words quite efficiently.

Fuzzyspringroll · 04/12/2020 19:28

Many years ago the words, "Stop fucking about!" escaped my mouth in front of my Year 6s. I had meant to say both, "Stop fussing!" and "Stop mucking about!" They lived. I lived. They found it hilarious and tried to get me to put 20p into the swear jar. We didn't have a swear jar...although I had threatened them to get one due to their liberal use of foul language. Grin

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/12/2020 20:13

I once said 'quit it with the disco shit' to year 6s.

Oh yes a friend of mine muttered that under her mask a little too loudly recently within earshot of a few year 8s at the front of the room. She denied it of course but strangely those kids seemed to warm to her a lot.

@Cracklefraggle I have to ask, do you mean that it was obvious to him that you'd wet yourself??

Haha! Pretty much. It was the look on my face that gave it away.
Funnily enough he was always well behaved for me after that though. Don't think he wanted that on his conscience again Xmas Grin

This post has cracked me up and cheered me up no end 😂 Glad to read I'm not the only one who's accidentally blurted out something impolite in frustration 👌

Cleebope2 · 08/12/2020 22:21

My colleague once told a student she was up her own hole. She did have to grovel to get out of that one. Now she’s VP.

2ndMrsdeWinter · 09/12/2020 18:13

I once shouted “I’m going to burn that fucker” after a very serious and scary incident in which a child was using a classroom object as a weapon and would not hand it over.

He told everyone that he was the fucker I was referring to and that I had threatened to burn him. I denied it all and my halo still shines bright Halo

crappyyear · 11/12/2020 01:40

Oh god, I'd be in trouble regularly. Science teacher, regularly burn myself and swear. Tell the kids if they burn themselves then it perfectly acceptable to let it a little expletive! Goes both ways. Swearing helps it hurt less - honest, its proven science !
