...Last week and although I don’t have any symptoms, I did go and get a test today.
I’m a teacher and was informed today that someone I was with on Monday tested positive on Wednesday.
Where do I stand with going into school or not this week if I test negative?
All gov websites are as clear as mud.
Thanks.

If you're a close contact of someone that has tested positive you have to isolate for 14 days from when you last had contact with them even if you have a negative test!

dementedpixie · 07/11/2020 22:36

A negative test doesnt shorten the 14 day isolation period

Callardandbowser · 08/11/2020 05:47

Okay. Thanks, do my family have to isolate too?

No, just you

dementedpixie · 08/11/2020 08:07

Was it a school contact? They should have given guidance on when to isolate until

Callardandbowser · 08/11/2020 08:40

No it was my therapist!
She tested positive a few days after I saw her but didn’t tell me until Saturday.

All of the government advice is conflicting.
It says that if I have been in contact with someone with a positive test I only have to isolate if test and trace contact me to tell me so, otherwise I can just socially distance.
But the other part of their advice says that even if I test negative, I have to isolate for 14 days from the point I was in contact with her.

I’m so confused, I don’t know what to cancel/ who to tell.

Test and Trace will only tell you to SI if you were in contact 48 hours prior to her test/ her development of symptoms. What day did you see her and what day was her test?

Your test is irrelevant to all of this.

A boy in my DS's football team tested positive and T and T didn't seem interested in that! I wouldn't rely on waiting for them.

Do you have the app?

dementedpixie · 08/11/2020 09:50

Have they given your details to T&T?
There is often a delay in them contacting close contacts from what I've read
Were you in contact in the 48 hours before symptoms and were you within 2metres for more than 15 minutes?

Piggywaspushed · 08/11/2020 09:50

Sorry, juts seen the days are in your OP. Assuming she developed symptoms on the Tuesday , you definitely need to SI for 14 days from that Monday. Have you been at school all this week?

Mindymomo · 08/11/2020 10:15

Yes, don’t rely on track and trace. 6 employees out of 30 where my son works tested positive, only one person was contacted by track and trace. They all had private tests sent by company and the ones with negative results all self isolated for 14 days since their last contact with the first positive case. The company expected everyone back to work after their negative tests and said they should return as they hadn’t been advised to isolate through track and trace. My son rang 119 and was advised to do the full 14 days. Only 1 out of the 6 had symptoms.

Callardandbowser · 08/11/2020 13:33

Thank you all.
The Positive CV case has told me that the test and trace people won’t contact me because I saw her on Monday and the 48 hour period only includes Tuesday and Wednesday.
So it looks like I won’t have to isolate at all.
I shouldn’t have got a test really.
