Teachers with no childcare

Hi Wonder if anyone has any advice. We are both teachers. I’m full time and my husband three days a week. We can’t find any local childcare to take our 3 year old son before and after pre school (quite rural setting) so my parents have been helping. They are in their 70s and we want to protect them, also not allowed in Covid rules. Literally have no childcare from Thursday. Any ideas would be very welcome!

Childcare is allowed in the Covid rules so your parents will still be able to look after your children x as regards to protecting them , realistically you've been using them since September - you'll either have to still use them or maybe unpaid leave- or travel further for childcare x

We're using GPs still. They're happy to continue and we have no other options. Minimise risks by considering doorstop drop offs and pick ups. There's not much else I can do about it. My head would make me go unpaid for no childcare.

Thank you both. Doorstep drop offs are a sensible idea to limit the risk. I thought it was only allowed for single parents but I see now that we can bubble.
