Inspiring/funny things for staff well-being

Has anyone got anything which has helped make them feel better in a staff room display about well-being ?

I've got reminders about self care, and positive/funny stories from classes. Any more ideas ?

It'll take a lot more than a display to have impact...

I'm not being funny, but is this a joke?

No display has ever made anyone feel better.

Biscuits and cake, though...

Display is a token and doesn't help.

Sensible whole school policies around marking and workload do help.

Agreed. look at what is making staff unhappy and address that properly.

Anything else is a waste of time and basically tells staff that management don't give a stuff about well being.

Agree. I don't think I even have time to look at a display. It would be similarly as annoying as those Twinkl things that pop up with unhelpful quotes like remember to take a moment for yourself!!

Things that work:

  • Removing marking policies which are OTT and don't impact - move to whole class feedback as much as possible
  • Maximising PPA, things like using TAs or specialist teachers to support form teachers by taking registration/assembly slot or dismissal so full class teachers get a few extra half hours each week
  • Trusting teachers to use pre-made resources, promoting the use of schemes and ready made things (with balance that it isn't blindly following though)
  • Minimising pointless evidence giving, excessive data fill outs etc.
  • Not changing planning formats for the sake of it. Some schools are now not requiring planning in a set way. Flipcharts or similar are fine.
  • Reducing meetings, if it can be an email, do it that way.
