Right dear educators, I assume like me you are in an unheated building with the windows and door open and it’s blowing a gale.

Top tips on how to stay warm, links to things that work much appreciated.

Thanks in advance from a very chilly technician.

scarves are the answer along with long cardigans

Can't wear a long cardigan under a blazer! Sad

Thankfully, we managed to negotiate as one of the only classrooms with an outdoor door! We'll try to keep the exterior door open but on when it gets too cold we can close it. We have to have the windows open but they're on safety latches so not that open, then the interior door is open as well. I definitely move around a lot when teaching because social distancing in KS1 means some of the children are miles away.

Warm feet are key

Thermal insoles in you have a dress code
Plus fleece boots if allowed.

Bam - bamboo co uk has really lovely base layers - if you need to wear a blazer plus a neat cardigan underneath

Warm snood in velvet or the like - to wear around neck keeps you warmer - this looks dressy enough

or cheaper ones on etsy - you can match to your blouse

We have our windows open, but I am genuinely not getting cold. Neither is the teacher. Weird we are in the Midlands so hardly a hot place. I'm confused by all this bitterly cold weather. Not disbelieving of course just genuinely confused.

Do you have a newish build school?

Mine is a 60s monstrosity and leaks heat. It was 8° in my classroom today - with the blower on periodically.

At home, if I put my heating on and open windows, it doesn't drop below 17-19.
