What have people done after a teaching career?

I’ve been a teacher for 10 years but I’m really not enjoying it atm. I think I should try a different school first as the workload and micro managing at my academy trust is ridiculous.

However I’d love to have some ideas of what people have done after they have finished teaching? I’m not sure if I’m qualified for anything or would need to retrain. I’ve got a law degree but out of time to be a lawyer plus I don’t want to work more hours than I currently do!
Thanks in advance

There are lots of groups/pages on facebook for this- one in particular called Thinking of Leaving teaching? These groups have lots of good suggestions of a range of different areas to explore.

I am halfway out the door and quite anxious about the future but feel like teaching is toxic and I just dont want to do it anymore. The children have never been the issue for me. It is the workload and expectation. Feeling like you are being watched and scrutinised to the point of having no freedom to enjoy teaching the children. I was made redundant when already feeling like I wasnt enjoying teaching anymore.

I was just getting into the swing of supply and enjoying working with the children with less of the stress when Covid reared it's head. I started working for my Dad during lockdown doing his accounts and some admin. I think I will train properly in bookkeeping and see where that takes me.

Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and hope for the best. Good luck.
