1st full week back and my joints are killing me - I need better shoes!

Ok, I know there are threads on comfy shoes but does anyone have any recommendations for shoes that are easy on the knees, ankles and hips?

My Stan Smiths were my saviours, lovely shaped footbed, but I don't think the cushioning is good enough any more. My ankles, knees and hips are just aching at the end of the day.

Someone recommended Ecco Soft but darn it they're pricey. Are they as good as people say? Do you have any better ones you've worn?

I like Hotter. I would also suggest good support tights and a visit to a physio.

I am in the same pain- not helped by my yoga PE session this afternoon! Don't like anything on the Hotter website and my leather Converse definitely aren't helping. I'm feeling every one of my 56 years right now. It's sad and pathetic. I have some black shiny Oofos I used when I had plantar faschitis

May wear them tomorrow.

Have you looked at FitFlops? My mum had trouble with her joints and swears by them. Not cheap but currently on sale if you're quick.

I wear Dr Martens (boots and shoes in winter) or Birkenstocks sandals in summer)

Super comfy and very supportive.

I won't wear anything other than fitflop shoes for school. You can often get some good bargains in their sale!

Beachhuts90 · 19/09/2020 23:21

I agree with the suggestion above for Hotter and wanted to add they are having a sale right now. I've just bought some lovely comfy shoes!

Don't know how casual you are allowed to be- I am primary and we are very casual! I swear by my Nike Air Force Ones. They do an all black version, which might be a bit smarter

Hotter does have some fugly stuff apparently aimed at 90 year olds. The style I like is 'Jewel'. I have huge feet and look like a clown in clog/Mary Jane type styles.

The other option, OP, would be to explain the problem to your manager and wear trainers for a few weeks. Decathlon do £19.99 ones in black that have great arch support (get the walking style). If you get a new pair and keep them at work they won't look too bad.

My school's never been the smartest and since Covid, we've been banned from using the lift (four floors and complicated one-way system). A lot of us are wearing trainers and dresses and SLT haven't mentioned it.

OMG! They've deleted Jewel (lucky I already have 5 pairs Grin). Robyn and Natural seem to be the most similar styles, although plainer.
