Starting a PGCe in September 2020- will it be postponed?

Hello,

I am due to start a PGCe in September. It's a normal university route, half lecture, half practice.

What is the likelihood that this will still go ahead given the coronavirus situation?

Are there plans in place to allow courses like this to still start and finish on time?

I don't think anyone knows yet, but I would imagine it will go ahead just look different to normal. By which I mean theory delivered online, school partly so also. Can't see them scrapping it as then we'd have more of a supply problem than normal.

I’m starting a PGCE (schools direct) in September. My provider confirmed it’s still going ahead but may look different.

I'd suggest contacting your uni- AFIAK no providers have cancelled courses yet, but some are making changes to the format of their course so that it can run more smoothly next year.

Different unis run placements at different times and know more about the situation in local schools, so they are probably best placed to advise.

We don't really know what school will look like in September, so it's hard to give advice!

I'm starting my PGCE in September, and have had email confirmation from the uni that they will be delivering a blended approach of face to face and online teaching. They have a few online open evenings in the next few weeks, so I've signed up to one so that I can ask questions about placements. Perhaps your provider is doing similar?
