Are you returning to school (work) if you are pregnant?

Just that really - was told on a Zoom call ttoday that school expects pregnant staff to be in from the 8th of June (secondary). Wanted to know if this is the case for other people?

Trying not to, but may be made to :(

Yes - it is looking as though we are. No word from school yet to say we definitely have to. Just wish they would be transparent about this!

No - my school are following the most recent guidelines which said pregnant women should be supported in working from home and if this is not possible then they should be given the safest role in school and ensure social distancing. If this is the case they should be speaking to you about how they are going to manage the risk and see if it is acceptable to you. I’d have a word with union rep maybe see what they say. It’s times like this I’m so glad my slt are actually human and consider staff welfare.

My colleague who is pregnant is going to be working from home, even though she teaches one of the classes coming back. Our SLT are caring, thank god.

It was my union rep who gave me the heads up yesterday to say that she spoke to school and they expect all pregnant members of staff to be in as they have taken "appropriate safety measures". No word from SLT to people affected though. We are expected in from the 8th of June. Have to make child care arrangements now. Feel sorry for any non union members who presumably won't get this information until our inset day on the 5th of June! Honestly I despair at their lack of communication.

I am unsure of when I can start my maternity leave. Does it have to be a date during the school term or can I request a date in the school holidays?
