I work in a nursery/infant school so come 1st June we could be the only year group not back. When do you expect to be called back?

Just as the guidance said...rest of the school in for a month before the summer holidays. Quite how that is going to happen is another matter entirely.

I'm in an independent school, we finish two weeks before state for summer so if year 2 do come back we might get a fortnight at best.

I guess your school can make its own decisions then. Best person to ask would be your head.

I'm Y2 in an Infant school as well, but I am assuming that I will be in from 1st June in order to teach the R/Y1 groups.

My Y2 colleagues and I are hoping to get most of the planning for the rest of the term done in the next week or so, ready to return.

Are you not in for keyworker children? Surely you'd be in and helping to teach in smaller groups?

GinWithRosie · 17/05/2020 13:48

I thought the OP meant when would the Year 2 children be in? If she meant Year 2 teachers, then yes, like the rest of the staff...now! All our staff are working...either on the key worker rota in school or teaching the children who aren’t in school. From 1st June everyone will be needed IN school to cater for the ‘bubbles’ of split classes plus the key worker children in the rest of the school. Assume that in the very unlikely event that there are any ‘surplus’ staff, perhaps those shielding or vulnerable WFH still, then they will still be planning for/teaching those children still not in school.

I teach y4 but still expecting to be back full time after half term to teach one of the small bubbles (another year group or keyworker children). We will need all hands on deck to cover all the groups we are supposed to.

In terms of when other year group children will be back - the government would have it 3 weeks after the rest. Unless we completely abandon social distancing I can’t see it though.

No we're not required in as our class sizes are under 15 already so nursery-year 1 teachers will take their classes and year 2 staff will continue remote teaching.

Who's teaching the keyworker children? Aren't you on a rota?
