Order of returning to school

Am I reading this right, reception and year 1 will return before year 10. My year 10’s need to return to school more than my son in reception, reception will very easily catch up to where they should be, year 10 and 12 won’t as easily.

That’s good to know, I think handy advice like this is the sort of things schools need. It’s so new to everyone, we have so many things to think through and very little time to do it.

The reality is that infection in the community should be well down before June 1st. Teachers, fortunately, tend to work with healthy children, the least infectious group of all.

I would like to see temperature scanners in schools.

We cannot eliminate all risk and some teachers will become ill. However, presumably we became teachers as we believe in the importance of education, so taking some risk to achieve this end (far less than NHS workers) is surely worth it.

I think any teachers over 60 or with health conditions should only return on a voluntary basis.

I woke this morning virtually shaking my head over this. My class of nursery children 3-4 years old. It's crackers. They will mix - many of them are EAL - they won't have a clue what I'm saying. I'm not sending my own children back in June / July even if they get told they can go. But I know that lots of parents will send my own class back into school. I feel dreadfully sorry for them. Yes I'm probably having a melodramatic moment but sorry that is how I feel.

We're all feeling like this.
I seriously, honestly don't think that schools will be opening before September at all.
I have faith in the unions and us (we are the unions).
It isn't safe for anyone. Best wishes.
