What's your school going to do about paying third parties?

If there's a prolonged period of closure?

People like cleaning contractors and caterers
Supply or tutoring agencies
Mentors
Alternative Education providers

There's usually no contractual obligation to pay if we're not using them but we're getting quite strong communication from some about moral obligations. Also, especially for AP, we do need them to survive this and be there to support our student on the other side.

OTOH school budgets etc etc

I work for an alternative provision agency as a one to one teacher. I'm getting no pay if I don't work. Zero.

If schools still pay these agencies they should be asking where the money is going. I can bet it won't be to the teachers who have their sessions cancelled!

Depends on contract.

We aren't paying for any services we buy into. You might purchase X amount of hours based on your school needs or chose a specific level of service.

If they are not provided normally you get a refund or negotiate a carry over. This situation would be no different. The supplier would need to look at their insurance. Our staff are paid only. But cleaners and meals not. They need to look at their employer.

We will pay until Easter but not afterwards.

What about supply teachers? Ones you've had with you long(ish) term?

As CoG, I have agreed that any staff on long term supply will be paid as usual. Any other staff will be paid for the full term of their contract, it is to me a moral obligation.

Cleaning contractors and caterers will be paid too, we budgeted for this and they should not be discommoded by an emergency.

It's how I would want to treated and it is the right thing to do.
