Organising large shared drives full of material- what's the best way to go about it?

Our shared drive (primary school) needs to be updated. We've got a huge amount of crap with some really good SOW and resources hidden in folders.

What we're not sure about is how to organise it, beyond breaking down into curricular areas. We also need to avoid things being reused just because it happens to be there- like that bloody Twinkl worksheet on fractions that every class from Y2 to Y6 seems to do at least once a year

Any advice?

Don't do what a new deputy head did at one of my previous schools for a start. He set up new folders to suit him and dumped everything else into a folder called "Before October 20XX". Nightmare as there was useful stuff in there. He left after two terms but his lovely legacy is still there...

Could it be time to move away from hard drive and onto Microsoft Teams? I bloody love this aspect of my new school as the schemes and resources can be accessed from anywhere, not just from school. Plus, everyone added to the team can chat on there in a messenger group. Very useful.
