When to tell school you're pregnant?

As the title suggests.

I'm approx 12weeks +1 and due to have my dating scan tomorrow. As yet school do not know I am pregnant.

When and how did you tell the head? I was at uni/working part time in a Nursery with no. 1 six years ago so it feels a bit new.

Thanks.

In my experience, you would be best advised to inform the head asap in order that they can take appropriate care. Tell them to keep it on a strict "need to know" basis until you want your pregnancy generally known, if you wish. Health and safety should mean that risk assessments need to be considered e.g. for things like protecting you from some childhood illnesses that might affect you/your baby. Congratulations!

Once you tell them you should then be protected if you need appointments etc. I would also ensure someone knew 'just in case' there are any students with contagious diseases, you feel ill etc.
They will want a maternity form from your doctor to turn do H&S audit. Hopefully excuse you from some duties etc.
Don't let them pressure you into saying when you start maternity leave btw, not how long you will want...
Congratulations btw!!!

After the 12 week dating scan seems a good plan. Congratulations!

Just had our scan today and I'm 13+2 not 12+2 from my original dates. So will let the head know tomorrow :)

Thanks lovelies. X

I was so sick that my head guessed! They were the first to know other than my partner, but have been very supportive. I have since told our business manager and my line manager, plus one other colleague had guessed.

Few more weeks until my scan so hopefully no one else figures it out before then!

Both times I told my LM pretty early on because the 1st pregnancy I needed a wee constantly and needed someone on stand by to watch my classes and the 2nd time I had hyperemesis from 6 weeks
