Good evening,
Does anyone have any thoughts/comments on the Salford Reading Test?
My son scored very low in his reading sats paper last summer - scaled scored of 65. He’s dyslexic and in year 6 now.
School have just done a Salford Reading test with him which is scoring a reading age of 8 and a half. Can anyone shed some light as to whether these results are consistent with each other?
Thanks.

Don't waste your energy on fighting for an EHCP, if the school don't think it's worth it then you'll be fighting a losing battle. Work on building his reading fluency and vocabulary. He needs to read at least 45 minutes a day and be reading certain short texts over and over to fluency. Put subtitles on everything he watches on TV, buy him some appropriate yet challenging and interesting texts, get him excited about reading. I've worked with lower children than your DS and got them passed - year 6 teacher and English specialist teacher
