Y4 Times tables check software turns out to be a bit shit

Large-scale government IT projects have a well-known history of failure and it seems that this will continue with the Y4 times tables check.

The pilot has brought complaints that the interface is dull and clunky and that is more a test of IT proficiency than times tables.

Spending £5 million only to find that TimesTables Rockstars does it better and for free?

Gosh
So shocked. Really. (Possibly a hint of sarcasm)
Idiot bloody government.

I’m not averse to the idea of a times tables check, but presumably they could have done it cheaper and been less reliant on dodgy school computers with a cassette recorder and the woman who used to do the KS3 mental maths papers.
