Hi everyone,

I have an upcoming interview for a pastoral support worker.

I have done the job previously in schools and came out to do similar work in a different field.

I realllllllyyy need this job back in a school I don’t feel like I’ve been able to find a job that I loved as much.
However, I know jobs like these are few and far between and the competition is stiff.

Any pointers that you would be looking to include?

Would you be put off if you took notes into an interview. I am in two minds- don’t want to look like I’m incapable but my mind goes slushy sometimes under pressure.

Any advice would be much appreciated Smile

What does the job entail? (Does it include behaviour, attendance, safeguarding?)

I work in pastoral and for my interview I had to do a nurture activity with a child -I picked a game and I bought of off of Elsa -there’s some really good stuff on there if you have to do that kind of thing in your interview.
I was then interviewed by the headteacher -asked about safeguarding , attendance and how I would deal with an angry/irate parent.
Look up the school behaviour policy -use some of those ‘ key words ‘ in your interview.
If you don’t already know about safeguarding read up on that too.
They may ask if a child comes and discloses something to you what you would do /how would you deal with it -so have a think about that too-glass door is a great website that gives lots of interview tips. Good luck 🍀!!
