Applying for job whilst pregnant

I am currently not working as my lost role was horrendous so I left at Christmas. Rather typically - after three years of trying, I found out I was pregnant in January - due Sept 12th. A job has come up at a school that I really want to work at, but the starting date is September! I am not sure if I should apply - I really want it, but they would need to get maternity cover immediately, so it feels a bit "wrong" applying when I know I am pregnant. Should I apply anyway, or accept the timing is very unfortunate and let it go? In order to qualify for maternity allowance, I need to be employed - so would it be be more prudent to look for jobs with an earlier start date?

I might be wrong, but I'm not sure you would get maternity cover. You would have to be in a job before getting pregnant. Certainly don't go for a job that starts when you are due.
