Secondary- how many PPAs do you have?

And are you always used for cover if you have a non- PPA free? I've got a TLR but school now deciding that only the top band of TLR are having extra PPA time and they are using us for multiple cover to save on Supply costs. Not sure when I'm going to get stuff done...stress and anxiety rear their heads again.

PPA is supposed to be 10% - so 1/2 a day.

Rathkelter · 10/02/2019 22:21

@Back did you mean 2 per week? A full teaching week at ours is 26 full hours so 10% of that is about 3 60-min PPAs per week. I'm 0.7 so entitled to a bit less. Do you have frees why h haven't been filled as well as PPA?

Half a day she means. 1/2=half.

user1471427614 · 10/02/2019 22:25

4 frees, 50mins one can be used for cover......standard teacher

BackforGood · 10/02/2019 22:37

Yes, 1/2 = half

Well, I'm Primary - we don't have 'frees', but PPA is the same inany age group if you are on Teachers Terms and Conditions, it is 10% of the teaching week (and I was just lifting you off 'Unanswered Threads' Smile)

CheesecakeAddict · 11/02/2019 19:22

I have 2 PPAs per week and contractually can do no more than 8 covers in a year

qumquat · 13/02/2019 17:40

I have 3 PPAs of 50 mins in a week. I have two additional frees which can be taken for cover.

hodgeheg92 · 13/02/2019 17:44

Wait, in secondary teaching you sometimes get "frees" in addition to the legally required amount of PPA?

I'm primary and get 1 afternoon a week. I have a TLR2a but they took away any extra leadership time for that years ago.

Generally “frees” that aren’t PPA are unpaid - useful to do work in non the less as they are normally trapped time between lessons - so, if you get called for cover in that time you are paid. Or at least, that’s been my experience.
