Jolly Phonics in Year 1

I've previously used Ruth Miskin and other variations not Jolly Phonics but now have to teach with it.

Can anybody clarify (since I can't find a definitive answer online) does it use the sound buttons like in other phonics schemes? I don't want to confuse the children if it doesn't.

TIA.

I've taught jolly phonics and loved it. I've never heard of a sound button.

Thanks, that answers that then. I'll avoid that then, I'm reusing some resources but clearly not sound button ones.

What are they? If they are good then use them as well?

DD2 (Reception) is taught Jolly Phonics and yesterday when she was writing sentences at home she put sound buttons under the sounds.

I'm going to use them - the school mix and match their schemes.
Ohio they are dots and dashes under the sounds in a word.

e.g Shut would have a dash under Sh and a . under u t. Cat would be 3 dots, chain would be dash dash dot as it's ch ai n
