Job interview next week- maths activity with a small group of y4 children

I have got an interview next week for a job In my dream school.
As part of the interview I have been asked to plan and conduct a 10 minute maths activity with a small group of year 4 children.
I have worked in year 6 and 2 and am currently in year 1 but I have never worked in a year 4 class and am struggling to think of an activity that I can do in just 10 minutes. I was thinking of something to do with times tables- is a game appropriate?

I have been a teacher many moons ago but more recently a governor who has sat in on interviews. I think anything you choose would be fine as long as it grabs the kids attention and means they are all involved at once so i would avoid turn taking, seen this go very wrong when bored child decides to wind unknown adult up! Also wouldn't choose times tables, it's a bit old hat, seen it several times and the kids aren't overly keen. Maybe pick something a bit out there, make yourself memorable. Version of countdown (Have to get across the board, Every wrong answer gets an obstacle in the way.)
Zombie apoclypse. (Have to escape Zombies. Wrong answer gets another Zombie on the board.)
Can then use any type of maths question / maybe a mix?

Whatever you do, the most important thing will be that you will be asked to reflect upon what you have done. They will ask you during the interview why you chose what you did, what went well and how you could have improved it. Reflection is the key word at the moment. Personally, I love shape as it's so visual. I'd do properties of 2d shapes. You can't fail with that.

What the poster before me said sounds like nonsense. They have told you is a game to play, not a lesson.

Do Venn diagram using hoops with 2d shapes. You want to keep the kids active and moving. Please PM me if you want. I was a ta for over ten years and now an Sen secondary teacher. I qualified last year.

Always, sometimes, never! Can tailor it to different ages and is brilliant for pair/ small group work! 10 minutes and you'd only need a couple of statements. I always do this at interviews and always get v positive feedback!

My year 4 daughter is doing time and measure at the moment.

I'm a year 2 teacher but I agree re shape being a good idea.

Thank you. I think I have my plan sorted. A friend knows the class (that I am going to be taking four children from) teacher and she said it is all about times tables at the moment so thinks that is the way to go.
It is a game but with some self assessment to start and finish with.
I am happy in my current role so not too much pressure but I would really, really like this job .

It's brilliant and you can adapt it to any topic. I usually use the NC for the relevant year group to come up with questions to make sure they're age appropriate and relevant. I also colour code - green statements are for everyone, but if they want a challenge I put some harder ones in red. I leave it up to them to decide. It really encourages critical thinking skills. I love it - can you tell?!
