How many meetings is too many?

We are now at two after school meetings per week, plus parents evenings, extra curricular etc.

It feels a lot already, how many does your school have?

You should have a time budget issued before the start of the academic year - this should have meetings/parents evenings etc listed and the amount of directed time being used. If you have not had this you are well within your rights to not attend anything that is taking you over 1265 hours (unless you are on leadership) and not been given notice of.

I would check with your union rep

What is this obsession with meetings at some schools? Don't any of these teachers have children to pick up, or anything?

I am old enough to remember when the teacher Workload Agreement came in and to wonder what happened to it...

What on earth are the reasons for two meetings a week?? Is this a primary school? They seem meeting obsessed.

I'm in a primary and we have obne meeting a week which lasts for about 45 minutes- if that. When we have Parents' Evening/ Christmas play etc, there's no staff meeting that week.

To me one meeting a week is often one meeting too many!

We have a staff (teacher meeting) once a week and a staff briefing (30 mins - everyone) once a week too. If we have parents eve, nativity or other commitments as a staff team we don't have one. I'd say that's far too many!

I don’t think we have enough to meetings at my school. We have a weekly after school of about 45 minutes, but it gets cancelled if their is a parents’ meeting that week.

We rely on emails to disseminate info.
