Teachers what do you do with your class data at the beginning of the year?

Just wondering what your school requires you to do with your data?

Do you have to analyse it? Plan for strategies? Where do you put your seating plans? Progress trackers etc?

We have to know where to find it, use it to inform planning. No set requirement for where it is or how we record it.

The logic is that if the students are making progress, we have autonomy. If students aren't making progress then someone will want a closer look and closer scrutiny.

We have a meeting with SMT where we discuss each child/ grouping within the class and discuss how we're going to support them over the year. For the majority it is a quick 'doing well, handwriting could improve,' etc, others we go into more depth and set very small, achievable targets.

Records of assessment go in an assessment folder.

Ah spaghettipeppers the assessment and planning folders you have to keep, what do you put in them?

As we are having a shuffle around of data/expectations in my school and I'm wondering what is too much to ask and what isn't?

I'm hearing some schools just do everything digitally and don't print out data, SEN Info etc.

Is this common in schools now? Is this quicker? Do you prefer it?

Or do you have a similar set up to my school and have to have the data in a folder?

I would much prefer things to be digital as it would save so much time but we have a folder. No explicit expectations as to what to do with the data but obviously we use it to inform planning and interventions etc

We store all our data digitally. The program analysises the data in different ways so smt can do this for themselves depending on what they need and we can do the same for classroom and planning needs. PP, SEN and other children of concern go onto the intervention plan which is in class file but also stored digitally.
