Haven't been told timings for first day back...

In all seriousness though, we know it's a staff training day on Monday, it's definitely one with all staff in school. Yet still no email with timings for the day. It varies year on year so I really need to know for childcare purposes and I don't want to turn up late or too early Sometimes we have to be there at 8:30, sometimes it's 9 for coffee and then a 9:30 start.

Anybody else have no idea what they're doing next week? I'm guessing a Sunday evening email

Gosh that's really disorganised of the school! We knew exact timings and details of the meetings/sessions before the summer!

Can you email someone senior and ask for the start/end times? Just explain you need to sort childcare.

If they've not emailed it out I would expect they haven't sorted it. If there is someone approachable on SLT I would email them to ask but otherwise I would aim early.

Surely just come in early as I’m sure you must have loads to do? Just get there for 8.30. It’s not a case of sitting in reception waiting is it? Strange dilemma.

I’m in the same, with the added fun it’s a new school. I’ve emailed an SLT member, but no reply yet. We start back tomorrow...

Mine usually do, but I've checked and double checked emails and there's nothing. I was off sick for the month leading up to the holidays, but have triple checked my emails. I've messaged a colleague and my HOD, but no replies from them either.

ourkidmolly yes there is loads to do, but I'm supporting staff on a 15hr contract. How long I'm expected to be there makes a difference to how long I have to be there on my other days that week. I also hate the school and disagree with a lot of the policies and care about it less and less. I do love my job and my department. Unfortunately it's quite niche so they don't come up often otherwise I'd change schools.

I had to creep in the back while the head was delivering a bollocking once as I got the timings wrong and it was pretty embarrassing as the bollocking was about being late to lessons.

I know I sound miserable but I hate the initial inane chitchat about holidays, how it’s flown by etc. Telling everywhere you went etc. Total bore.

I hate that too! My timekeeping is so rubbish that I usually aim for the beginning of the chit-chat bit and arrive 5mins before the actual training starts. Just enough time to make myself a vat of coffee and pinch a load of pastries

Noblegiraffe one of my colleagues moved house in the summer holidays a few years back. He'd arranged for another colleague to pick him up from the end of his road on her way past. He wasn't there, wasn't at his house and wasn't answering his phone so she came in without him. He turned up about an hour into the session. The head stopped to personally welcome him and we all applauded. Turns out he'd walked the wrong way, got lost, caught two busses and got directions from a friendly elderly lady on how to get to school. He'd only worked there 3 years

Since the he's passed his U.K. driving licence, become a British citizen, bought a car and been on time to each training day.
