OFSTED - No online staff survey

Just that really, report just published and it says 'No responses were received to the online staff and pupil survey.' We were never given the option to do one! Are SLT legally obliged to send these out or is it optional? Assuming it comes via the SLT?

Any insight much appreciated. Not a popular SLT and I think they may have been avoiding asking difficult questions.

We had Ofsted in last 6 months and we had the same. We weren't given a choice of fling one in. I hadn't considered SLT kept it a secret tbh. Surely the lead inspector should mention it when he gives his opening of the inspection in briefing.

Staff were v pissed off that it was stated on the report.

I think maybe some inspectors must “forget”. A school I was with last year had an inspection and during the feedbacksaid not one person had filled it in. Except the deputy had, and me and my TA plus three more we knew of.

Thanks for your replies. Candodad that's terrible!

Hmm interesting isn't it? We weren't given the option to do one, no link emailed round, last time we were with a different HT. It seems maybe the SLT and/or the inspectors don't always want their narrative challenged. I assumed it would be SLTs fault but yes maybe the inspectors don't always play nicely...

Did either of your schools challenge it afterwards? I'm not sure what it would achieve other than ruffle feathers and doubt the report can be amended afterwards but I feel very cross about it! I would have wanted to say lots of positive things, a few negative and some constructive ideas.

SNAP! We had this - I posted about it! OUr union reps challenged the head. he said he thought we had too much to do and there wasn't enough time. Our Oftes inspectors didn't even pass comment on zero responses!!

Piggywaspushed · 25/07/2018 12:57

Ofsted... sorry.

When we had Ofsted this year the link to complete the survey wasn't sent to our admin team until around 30 minutes before it had to be completed, admin got it sent out straight away but by this time lunch was over and we were all back to teaching. Terrible system, Ofsted should just come armed with a stack of paper copies for staff to fill out.

When we had ofsted our SLT were so flustered that they hadn’t even read the bit in the email about the staff questionnaire. Head was grateful that I picked up on it and sent it around all staff BUT we got the email with that information AFTER school had started and as we were on a one day inspection there was hardly any time for classroom staff to complete it.
