Any RE teachers? Should we be panicking

I'm posting here for some anonymity I guess.
There is so much doom and gloom around the new RE GCSE. A lot of it in my opinion justified.
Without debating spec issues, what does this mean for my career?
I'm currently teaching in a Catholic school as a non Catholic so no progression within department (despite many attempts to get me to convert for that reason)
Is there any prospect of hod roles in non faith schools? How can I progress if RE is being overlooked or undervalued country wide?
Is RE values in your school?
Because of threads in the RE Facebook group I'm freaking out.

I’m also in a Catholic School. RE is very much valued but, as you said, limited progression for non-catholics, although the second in department for RE is Greek Orthodox at my school.
