It doesn't seem like a lot, does it?Hmm Or is this normal?

I know people working for agencies who get £70-80 per day for supply so I don't think that's bad.

PurpleDaisies · 17/11/2017 07:18

That would be normal around here.

teacherb101 · 17/11/2017 07:19

Are they NQTs?

That was almost a full weeks work, and if I did that every day, in a month I would be on the same as I was on when on M2, in 2005.

Have you had tax/NI taken off?

teacherb101 · 17/11/2017 07:23

Yes Smile

What was the rate of pay before that? In my experience the quoted rates are pre tax/NI

teacherb101 · 17/11/2017 07:27

My gross pay was £505. I know my morning doing cover was £30, so I suppose teaching was about £120 a day. It seems I've had a lot taken off me! It's one of those umbrella companies and I do think they may be a bit dodgy.

www.supplyteachers.direct/teachers

This might help.

teacherb101 · 17/11/2017 07:33

That's interesting: I'm being paid on M2. No wonder it's not much.

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 17/11/2017 07:47

You’re probably being paid a higher rate but they’re taking such a big cut that it works out as M2.

teacherb101 · 17/11/2017 07:52

I'm definitely not on any more than 120 p/d.

LaurieFairyCake · 17/11/2017 07:59

That’s really crap - what’s the point in ‘supply’ if you don’t get paid more?

It's crazy isn't it? Trial mornings is ridiculous.

Never, ever, work for free. Ask your agent if they would.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 17/11/2017 23:50

I miss the good old days where you did get paid a little more on your daily rate to make up for not being paid in the hols.

Every day you worked, you got 1/190th of your salary scale. If you did a morning you got 55% of that, if you just did an afternoon you got 45%.

No agencies. Just word of mouth and proper rates of pay.
