Calling secondary and FE teachers

I teach secondary and I have finally received my timetable for next year. Every lesson is in a different room and we don't have an office. Please give me your tips for dealing with this situation.

Box on wheels?

Seriouskt, though, that's shit. Are there cupboards in each of the rooms where you can at least leave books and so on?

What happens with laptops (or whatever) I'm lucky in that all but two of my lessons this year have been in the same room but moving my laptop for those two lessons mean I have to restart it, which is really irritating.

That's really crap, do you usually have your own classroom? Or are there any reasonable swaps that can be made before September?

Heirhelp · 15/07/2017 20:50

I have just changed to part time teaching but currently job share with my maternity cover. Next year the department who we share our corridor with has a new full time member of staff so as the only part time member of staff I have to be nomadic.

Timetable only came out of Friday which is a non working day for me so I can't check if there are more appropriate free classroom until Monday.

No cupboard in the classroom but there are deep window ledges.

That is really unfair. At my school full time people get priority on having their own rooms. Why? It's clearly discriminating against part timers. The burden of being nomadic should be shared as much as possible. Make some noise!

Heirhelp · 16/07/2017 18:55

My school is more than happy to discriminate against part timers. I am currently more concerned about the three new lessons of a completely new subject that nobody has spoken to me about but it has just appeared on my time table.

Oh I know that feeling, i'm teaching 4 subjects next year!

I wouldn't trust open window ledges, at least ask for some wheely crates that can be closed.
