I'm burnt out. What next?

Just had an outstanding inspection, where my practice was emphasised in the report - not by name but by knowledge and strategies - but I'm burnt out, have nothing more to give and need to change job where I don't work weekends nor have to pull a rabbit out of a hat on a daily basis.

What next?

Have you been feeling like this for a long time or do you think you are exhausted from the inspection and all the stress that goes with it?

Cut back, if you want to stay teaching do less. Harsh but true that good just has to be enough sometimes. I don't work many evenings or weekends.

Exactly.
You just need to be good.

Not outstanding.

Agree, have always been delighted with 'Good'; that's what you'd want for your child, a teacher who is consistently good.

I think the outstanding comes from knowing my subject inside out.

I'm fed up with keeping up with constant changes and taking on more diverse responsibilities so it's difficult to maintain a good practice
