Anyone have any opinions about this school? Good, bad or indifferent. Looking to relocate to the Corby, Kettering, Northampton area and saw a job advertised here

Same job I saw? Head of English??

I a currently digging for info on it, too. Info dug so far not great.

Why that area out of interest? Schools are often not very good in the 'Rose of the Shires'...!

Moving back to be closer to some family that need support after some years away. I'm not too worried about bad schools... I've done my tour of duty at various grade 3 and 4's! Somewhat to be leaving my current grade 2 though so a nice supportive management and a clear plan for recovery will help!

A lot of the schools in Northampton have struggled since a reorganisation maybe a decade ago. The 'best' kids get sucked to some private schools and to the state boys' and girls' schools. Ther's been a lot of instability.

Thomas Becket was a 4 at Oftsed and then went up to a 3, so that's something, I suppose!

If you don't mind a challenge...go for it.

If it is an English job, Weavers is Wellingborough is also looking. Another school with a few challenges but I've heard generally good things about its leadership.

Ilikebeanswithketchup you seem to know the schools in Northampton well.

Do you know anything about Kingsthorpe College?

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 08/05/2017 08:01

That's one of the schools that has gone through a lot of leadership team upheaval. I don't know much about it, other than it's grouped together in my head with all the schools in Northampton that parents might be trying to avoid. It's possibly at the top of that pile. It's had a fairly torrid time from Ofsted but it seems its latest report recognises that it is improving. I did know someone who went to work there and left quite soon afterwards.

Northampton's a nice town but its education is a bit of a mess.

Sorry to derail the thread but we are also moving to the area. Do you know anything about Welland Park in Market Harborough?

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 08/05/2017 13:51

Sorry, no , nothing! That's Leicestershire and my knowledge only extends as far as Northamptonshire.

Good luck though!

Tellmewhatyouknow · 11/05/2017 20:20

Thanks for the information

Any idea on new Northampton International Academy? We are in Kingsthorpe and I would love to know the opinion on schools in this area! Thanks
