Finding a job as an NQT

Grin Hi,

I decided to retrain as a primary teacher when DD1 was two and qualified last January (I had dd2 during my PgCe - not recommended) and I've been working on supply ever since. I've been applying for part time roles as obviously with two LOs at home full time NQT year would be horrific but I'm aware that I need to get it done. My supply feedback is excellent and I've been offered longer term supply contracts before but only full time.

I've only been shortlisted once and that was during my PGCE. Does anyone have any tips on standing out from the crowd? I'm also relocating which won't help as the local schools won't get to know me for a while. I'm applying for full time now too as I just want to get it started.

I think you have to suck it up, and go FT, to get your NQT year done and dusted. the longer it goes on, the more questions will be raised about why you've not done it yet, and the more, newly qualified NQTs you'll be competing against. I don't think it is going to get easier.
