Leaving without a job to go to?

The school I am at has changed beyond recognition- so many major changes (newish management) and still more to come next term. I really need to leave but don't have a job to go to.

I have seen a couple of jobs advertised I could do starting in September, but would need to hand my notice in now to leave at the end of the summer term. I could do this and then not get the job, meaning I then have no job! It would be a huge gamble if I gave up my job with nothing to go to wouldn't it?

Financially we could manage without my salary in the short term. I teach a specialist subject so these teaching posts don't come up very often. I am worried that if I gave up now then it would be hard to get another job if not already in a job.

What is the best thing to do?

It sounds risky to be honest. Could you do supply for a while?
