My pink highlighter is twitching

The Mothers' Day post from my children's school has two misused apostrophes and a spelling mistake with a plural. Yes, I am a pedant! Yes my pink highlighter is itching to go! I am quite prepared to get flamed but if the Head can't do basic SPAG how can she teach it?
Thanks, I feel so much better now.

Pink is good for us. I think we're the opposite to every other school ever.

temporarilyjerry · 26/03/2017 15:32

No. we're the same as you, Lady. Tickled pink.

DrSeuss · 26/03/2017 15:44

Pink for think, green for go.

What are the mistakes out of interest?
I thought it is supposed to be Mother's Day, not Mothers' Day?

Swissgemma · 26/03/2017 15:53

The day of all the mothers so mothers'

rollonthesummer · 26/03/2017 15:57

It's Mother's Day. Google Anna Jarvis.

RandomDent · 26/03/2017 15:57

I've gone for Mother's.

Mother's is fine - the day of the generic mother. Grin Mind you, someone will be along to say that it's Mothering Sunday in a minute.

BeyondThePage · 26/03/2017 16:04

Mother's Day is correct.

It is not a day for ALL mothers it is a day for YOUR mother.

DrSeuss · 26/03/2017 16:12

Fair enough. It's still not a "day for all the Mummy's" sic.

ouch....

Starlight21 · 26/03/2017 19:22

I feel your pain. The amount of letters sent out with wrong dates on, spelling mistakes, and then we have a staff meeting about making good sure that we encourage the children to take or ideas in their work and SPAG is important. Smile

Starlight21 · 26/03/2017 19:23

Oops apologies lol

DanyellasDonkey · 26/03/2017 22:58

Our head continually sends out letters about concerts etc stating that "The children have been practicing hard" [hmm}.

Our well-meaning PTA chair was urging the pupils to "hand in there competition entries" on our FB page.

(Pink highlighter twitching like mad)

Katnisnevergreen · 28/03/2017 21:06

But the head doesn't do the letters surely? In my school it's the office staff/pa/reception staff

CheeseAtFourpence · 28/03/2017 21:09

I also feel your pain. My child was recently encouraged to try and write "Austrailia" Hmm

DanyellasDonkey · 28/03/2017 22:27

Yes the head does do the letters. Myself and another teacher are old school SPAG pedants and we have told her several times that she's wrong but it keeps happening so we've now given up Sad

Katnisnevergreen · 28/03/2017 22:53

Maybe it's a primary thing. In secondary heads wouldn't do the letters/newsletters etc.
