Results' Days (IGCSEs, A and AS Levels, GCSEs)

Hello! Who's going into school on Results' Day? Our first one is next Thursday, 11th August, for the IGCSEs.

We have Year 11 students receiving anything between 6 and 11 subjects' results each (some of the option subjects are GCSEs instead so it depends what they've chosen), and all of Year 9 receiving one, plus a few Year 10s who joined the school this year, and a handful of Year 12s resitting a certain subject. I really hope they've all done well!

I'll be in for A-Levels and GCSEs.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 04/08/2016 11:17

I'll be in for GCSE and Alevel. We release the IGCSE on the same day as GCSE here.

Fourarmsv2 · 06/08/2016 08:33

We do iGCSEs too for some subjects but I didn't realise the results came out at different times.

FithColumnist · 07/08/2016 14:18

I promised my Y11s that I'll be in for GCSEs, but I have to admit I'm kind of bricking it, they're my first GCSE group and I want them to do well so badly (for their sake as well as mine!)

DoctorDonnaNoble · 07/08/2016 14:23

It's nerve wracking but usually fine. There will be some who are thrilled and some disappointments but overall it's usually alright.

WyfOfBathe · 07/08/2016 15:57

I'm going to A-level but not GCSE, as I don't think my year 11s will really care if I'm not there and I know a lot of other teachers are going.

For my year 13s there are only 4 in the class so we've got to know eachother quite well, and especially as 2 of them are going to study my subject at uni I want to be there just in case anything has gone wrong with their results (or, hopefully, to congratulate them all!)

LockedOutOfMN · 07/08/2016 20:25

Fourarmsv2 I'm abroad, we get IGCSE results on the 11th, but as far as I know, in the U.K. the students receive IGCSE and GCSE together on the 25th. Apologies for the confusion!

Our students won't be in but I am going in to analyse the data and, crudely, for IGCSE, see who's failed to gain entry to Year 12, and then anyone who hasn't achieved a B or above at IGCSE in their chosen A Level subjects so they'll need to re-select. For A Level, it's dealing with UCAS and the other universities. Most of the time, it's good news and just rewards for years of very hard work from lovely students.

I'm going in for A levels. Tbh we are expected to be there and I always have been. Sometimes they need reassurance or a shoulder to cry on, and Ive put 1 - 2 years work in so I want to see the outcomes!

Fourarmsv2 · 09/08/2016 16:37

We'll (HODs) get results emailed to analyse the day before the students get them.

I love that bit of my job :)

So many wannabe dentists / medics & vets though. Just hope they get what they need. Next year will be much more nerve wracking with the new specs.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 09/08/2016 16:57

I'm looking forward to A Level results day. I've been off on mat leave all year and I'm looking forward to seeing my lovely form.

booklooker · 12/08/2016 12:00

We got our IGCSE results yesterday

jcsp · 13/08/2016 10:09

Not going in this year. First time I've not gone in for 34 or so years.

I retired in July. I just don't feel the need to, I don't feel as nervous/involved as I was in the past.

If they've done well I wouldn't be getting a pat on the back - not that I was in it for that. If they did badly, which I suspect/worry about, its not that I can do anything.

Things were said, post OFSTED, that if pupils did badly them we couldn't blame them or circumstances. That basically we've only ourselves (teachers) to blame.

Now that may be true in some cases but taking all Y11 out of revision time, post coursework, lesson after lesson to concentrate on ECDL will not help 'my' results. This was announced around Easter.

I will go back at some point - but just not yet.

LockedOutOfMN · 13/08/2016 13:30

booklooker How were your IGCSE results? We got ours too, overall very pleasing. Sad for the ones who didn't quite make it, though.
