starting probationary year and getting married...

I booked my wedding at the start of this year for the end of August 2017. Now I have just realized that if all goes well, a few weeks before I get married, I will be due to start my probationary year. (I am looking to start the post grad next year)
I'm worried now about how any new school will be at me potentially asking for a few days/a week off so soon Into the start of term. My wedding is a Sunday so I will at the minimum need the Monday off, but ideally a few days longer.
How would a school likely react to this?

This sounds like a terrible idea. Why can't you just change the date of the wedding? What happens if the school refuse your leave request?

There are a few family reasons that make changing the date less than ideal to say the least but it may be my safest option. I was hoping to avoid changing everything when at this stage I don't even know if I will be accepted on to the course the first year I apply. I know its not unusual to have to wait a year or so before being accepted and if that was the case for myself then there wouldn't be a clash.
I was just thinking that because it was booked long before I even began the course that I may be in with a chance.

Dear god, no! Welcome to the world of being a teacher, where you schedule major life events around the school year. Bring the wedding forward in to your summer holidays.

How about changing to the end of July/early August? I know venues get booked up, but I'm sure you can be accommodated.

When will you know whether you have a place on he course. If you don't, your wedding plans could go ahead; if you do, you'll need to change them because you need to make a good impression at the start of your NQT year. Asking for time off won't create that!

I got married in my probationary year.

I got married on a Saturday, back to work on Monday, I didn't have a class in the afternoon on the Friday so left early to get my nails done.

As far as I am aware you are not entitled to time off for your own wedding.

What is a he date of your wedding? Sept 2017 starts on a Friday.
If your in England, the schools won't have gone back for the Monday in August.

Yeah I'm in scotland. I haven't even applied to get on the course as of yet. That will be getting done soon.

I can appreciate how inconvenient this would be for a school, and as a general rule of thumb i would never book something that could clash with school, but at the time of booking I did not plan to be starting the post grad right now, so this wasn't going to be an issue. Curcumstances have now changed meaning I can get my skates on and begin the course and now it's all a bit of an unexpected headache.

I think that the issues I'm going to have by changing the date are going to be easier to deal with than risking any issues with my placement I will get if I do get accepted on the course.

Euphemia, are you sure you're allowed time off to go to a wedding. I've seen threads on another site, where people have been agonising because they've been asked to be a bridesmaid or go to a wedding, during a term time weekday.

I didn't think that a wedding was a reason for absence, even if it's unpaid.

You are allowed a day off for your own wedding - I got married in October half term (years ago) and was entitled to a day so I took the Friday and we got married on the Saturday. Other people's weddings would be at the discretion of the school and probably unpaid.
