Moving year 6 to KS1

I have done my NQT year in year 6 but really hate it. Love the kids and their age but don't want to go through the pressure and workload again (my school is particularly bad for being OTT). I am staying next year and can request a year group. I would really like to be in KS1 as I loved it on placement - will the change be too much though?

Can you give me advantages/disadvantages of year 1 and 2 (and also lower KS2)?
I don't see much point in a consolidation year in year 6 as it will be the new curriculum and I am really unhappy there. I feel I could offer far more in lower year groups.

If you like the kids and their age, have you thought about moving to Y5? Not much difference in age, they can still do stacks of things independently and you can have a mature conversation, but there's a bit less attitude and a lot less SATS pressure.

(Sorry, can't advise about a KS1 move - I taught KS1 on a teaching practice once..... it's not for me....)

Don't move to Year 2. Lots of pressure on assessment results too, and will be even worse next year with the reintroduction of formal testing. I would suggest lower KS2 if you can get it. The children are relatively independent but generally still enthusiastic and keen to learn.

Y2 will be similar to Y6 in that it will be a new curriculum next year. The Y2s are still on the old curriculum with the old SATs this year, like Y6. Next year will bring new work, new assessments. And there may well be similar levels of pressure on making sure the standards don't drop.
