Hi
I'm on the PTA and we have agrees to fund various things. I just wondered how much teachers are given to but resources each year?
If you were given an amount to spend what would you want (within reason!)

Thanks

?? I thought you'd say £100-£150!
Would you rather request specific items or be given an amount to spend?

I've mostly had £0, but exciting years have been the ones the PTA gave us £200 or £300 to spend. One particularly memorable year we got £500. Each time we've had money it's made such a difference to the class and I can assure you every penny is spent very, very carefully.

£0.

We get 30 pencils, 30 whiteboard pens and 1 pack of post it notes for the year. Mine ran out at Xmas-I've replenished the supplies out of my own wages or we wouldn't have anything.

It's pitiful.

£0...

Though our annual stock is good, and the school isn't tight fisted about glue sticks, high lighters, white board pens, coloured paper etc You just take what you need when you need it.

But other stuff for specific projects in my class comes out of my pocket...

  • compost, seeds, tin foil, kitchen towels, felt, needles, ribbon, smoothie-making ingredients, play dough ingredients, glitter pens, decent glue - basically anything extra.

Our teachers (primary) get a £300 budget and order their supplies for the next year in July. If we've got NQTs their mentor usually does the order with them and they're allowed to order extra bits in the autumn term but that's it. The subject leaders for Art, Science and DT get an extra £500-£1k for whole school supplies. Anything staff buy for class projects is reimbursed through petty cash.
