KIT days for uni days

I'm a primary teacher, going on maternity leave in march 2015. I'm also currently completing my SENCO training which involves me attending a full day of uni every month or so. I have 3 full uni days I will have to attend while I'm on maternity leave and wondered if I could use my KIT days for them and also if I would get paid?
Not sure if anyone has been in this situation or has any input! I'm a bit clueless on the KIT days and whether work will even pay me for them?!

I don't know about the legal side of it, but surely the KIT days are as much for you as for the school? It will be much harder going back if you haven't KIT.
