any special school teachers about?

I have just volunteered to organise the school Christmas performance this year. We are an 11-19 special school, with pupils with MLD, SLD and PMLD. Usually each class prepares a scene or song and the whole thing is linked by a theme. This would certainly be the easiest thing to organise.

Anyone done anything that has worked really well in their school?

We did it that was as well last year.

I think its easier that way because then the students don't have to sit through loads of long rehearsals for the whole thing but can just rehearse their class /key stage when appropriate.

We finished with 2 whole school song at the end which was nice though so everyone could be in it together !

Christmas songs from around the world. I think we did Germany, Russia, Carribbean, USA (can't remember the rest). Each class researched their country and Christmas traditions, including food, and then performed a song and something about the traditions from their particular country.

That sounds good. Or a retelling of the nativity, with each class having a different part - plenty of songs to fit in (Little Donkey...).
I miss special school SO much!
