Please tell me it'll be ok?

After resigning from my senior management position following severe bullying from a new head (all staff eventually resigned at her hands) and having a year of getting back to good health, I have jst completed an 8 month period of maternity leave cover.
I now face an uncertain future r.e my next steps in finding work and it looks like supply is my only current option. I have never done supply in my 18 years of teaching. Please tell me it's ok?? I hate new situations and unfamiliarity?

I quite like Supply.
Not much help, I know, but the idea of it being day to day is not my experience. A couple of days in a few schools is usually enough to spark off a chain of jobs. With your background, I wouldn't worry.
And it can be fun...and if not, you never need go back!!

I loved the flexibility of it. It is hard at first though to get used to but your confidence grows a little bit every time. People say thank you to you and you get regular schools who always ask for you which makes it easier and is confidence boosting.

You'll find it surprisingly exhilarating as you see your experience catches the pupils out: many expect us lot to be useless and quickly realise that we are goooood! Lol
It's great mentally as our minds quickly have to figure out the classroom routines and personalities, etc. there are NO politics to be involved which will be a blessed relief for you. You'll also get a great boost from other members of staff who appreciate your skills, professionalism and competence. Whereas we get virtually no credit / acknowledgment fir these this when in a permanent position, a good day's wifi as supply teacher attracts so much of this positive stuff!

I can but laugh at my typos. Wifi = work. Thankfully, I take more care in my work than in my MN finger-tapping.

I also love supply work. Everybody knows you are in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar routines and helps you out. If you don't like the school/class etc, you don't need to do it again. It is lovely not to have to plan etc. I signed with a few agencies.

I've loved it when I've done it. I'm about to go back to it for the long term, simply because it's so much better when you've got children and actually want to see them! I can't wait to leave FT and go back to supply.
