does anyone know this poem?
can anyone help me explain what the "place on a diet" allusion means? stuck!

Imo it means that the place has no new life it has stopped in the past. It is feeding off of empty echo's, the past. For a place to live and breath it's diet needs to be that of new voices new experience and new life. Time stood still there.
