I am no fan of Mr Gove , so I find it surprising that that people rise all the time to the bait... Just ignore, keep calm and carry on... The more you publicise his activities the more his profile rises. he will be chuckling with glee at yet again getting a teacher riled. Don't you have kids in your class who seek attention this way - do you given them that attention - surely not...

So OFSTED are beyond reproach?

That's a view I don't hear often!

So now Michael Wilshaw knows how teachers feel...

it's about time Ofsted's awful formulaic one size fits all perfectly planned, perfectly differentiated, perfectly tedious, outstanding lessons were binned.

Likewise their no fun, no extracurricular activities, more maths, more English, yet more English, less art, where the hell do we fit in PE school days.

(DDs school has had to agree to loads of this shit to get Ofsted off it's back)

I don't think Gove has raised standards.
I don't think Ofsted has raised standards.
I don't think obsessive lesson observations giving Ofsted gradings have raised standards.
I don't think performance management has raised standards.
I don't think learning objectives, success criterias, marking in purple or working walls have raised standards.

so ofsted is ok for local authority schools but when it starts closing free schools, suddenly they need a different inspecting body? who wont notice how crap they are, presumably?

Rollonsummer you're gonna be dodging those lightning bolts from the education gods for a while with those statements.

Can I just add: mini plenaries have not raised standards.

However, hippy, dippy, lentil weaving play therapy has made a massive impact on some of our children's ability to learn!

-response to marking has not raised standards ( particularly when the pupils in question can't actually read the comments in their books )

Perhaps OFSTED is beyond reproach: official repudiation issued already.

Responding to marking has only served one purpose - to give me less time to cover the syllabus because when I mark work I need to give them time to respond, in writing, so that some person can see that I have marked their work and they have responded. Aaaarrrghgjg.

Not saying OFSTED have got it right, but they are 100X better at understanding what real education is than Gove.
