Catch up funding - How to spend?

I got corned by my head just as I was leaving this morning asking me to put together a proposal about barriers which low ability children have to learning and suggestions about how to overcome them.

There is Catch up Funding money available.

I'm just a bog standard class teacher, but because I have had quite good success with pupils' progress in low ability sets, they want to pick my brain. The thing is, I can only give ideas about how to improve English, reading, phonics et and they want it be about barriers to learning in general across the curriculum.

I'm at a loss as to what to write and need a few pointers to get me started.

Any ideas?

I want to give them something good as my head has been so supportive to me in so many ways, due to my difficult home circumstances, and I don't want to let her or myself down.

Really hope someone can help

PS I work in a middle school and am currently an English/ RE teacher.
