With my yr 5 children! Today's issue was all to do with someone's girlfriend wanting to play with her reception buddy, rather than pay attention to him. It is about 8 years since I last taught yr 5 and I feel that they are all a bit more boy/girlfriend aware than my last lot. Any great ideas about this?

Don't get drawn in, pre-plan a few phrases to end the conversation and move them onto learning, it's a hideous and pointless waste of your time.
Consider it as an chance for them to learn to problem solve amoung their peers.
