Do you think Andrew will face any criminal charges?

I’m only now reading Virginias book and it’s a very difficult read.

It’s 7 months on from Andrews arrest for misconduct in public office. Do you think he will be charged with anything to do with that? Do you think he’ll be charged with sexual abuse and rape?

No. He’s a member of the Royal Family.

No. He’s a member of the Royal Family.

Is he though? They have given enough distance for it to happen, if there were to be enough of a will. That’s where the fault line will be, does the criminal justice establishment have the will to do it.

BoredZelda · 25/09/2026 15:22

There can’t be sexual abuse and rape charges unless someone else comes forward.

I am pretty sure they will protect him.

inerja · 25/09/2026 15:23

I hope he will but I doubt it

HelpfulHelena · 25/09/2026 15:24

No chance

MrsLeonFarrell · 25/09/2026 15:27

Unlikely. Not because he is a member of the royal family but because, firstly sexual crime are rarely prosecuted and secondly because his most convincing accuser is deceased.

Maybe the financial investigation will result in charges but I'm not hopeful because if Andrew is found guilty it will call into question the judgement of the government of the day and the civil servants who gave him the Trade Envoy position against advice and then kept him in place even when problems were known about.

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 25/09/2026 15:39

I don’t know how he can face charges as Virgina has sadly passed away. I don’t think he can face trial as she can’t be cross examined - please wiser mums-netters advise me if I’m wrong.

Victoria Guiffre took the money. She’d been through a lot in her life and in these cases it’s really hard on the victim. Her past actions would have been brought up as well as inconsistencies in any statement she made. The court system is stacked against rape victims.

Perhaps they can get Andrew on sharing confidential information, but I know that’s not the same

And don’t get me started on Sarah Ferguson.

These threads normally don’t go anywhere as we all agree he’s a complete shit so the 39
pages of arguing on other threads doesn’t happen

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 25/09/2026 15:43

He’s a total shit. I’d be very surprised if he has committed a criminal offence- at least one they can back up.

The misconduct stuff might be easier to get him on.

I didn't know he had sexually abused or raped snyone!

CoffeeCantata · 25/09/2026 15:48

I’d love to see him banged up but if he hasn’t technically committed a criminal offence, what do you expect anyone to do?

It would take something new to very come to light.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 25/09/2026 15:50

No, he won’t. Although I would put good money on more stuff coming out once he’s died and lot of handwringing about how awful that didn’t come to light in his lifetime etc.

I still can’t get over the royal family showing how low an opinion they have over normal British people that they consider Andrew being reduced to our status counted as a suitable punishment for his behaviour.

Askandyforcompo · 25/09/2026 15:50

I know someone who went to prison for misconduct in public office. What he did was nothing in comparison to what Andrew is accused of in office. It's just proving it. They must have had some evidence to arrest him in the first place.

IdaGlossop · 25/09/2026 15:56

Probably not. Various reasons. The high bar for finding someone guilty of misconduct in public office. The difficulty of extracting evidence from the US while Trump is President. Being Royal. Protecting government officials and civil servants who didn't intervene to stop him being trade envoy. The Met dragging their feet.

LlynTegid · 25/09/2026 15:58

I doubt it. Especially given the CPS tests for prosecution.

I hope I am wrong.

LotsInCommon · 25/09/2026 16:00

It’s very depressing to think he can just get away with it all. So much covered up, minimised and a victim paid off.

Nope. People in his position get protected their whole lives.

nomoreforks · 25/09/2026 16:01

I think more likely a conduct in public office offence relating to poor behaviour when trade envoy

HoldMyWine · 25/09/2026 16:04

i would love to see him charged with something but I doubt it will happen

RudePhthaloDalmadoodle · 25/09/2026 16:08

Both the charge rate and the conviction rate for sexual assault in the UK are ridiculously low, so even if this were a case with an accuser determined to pursue him, with evidence, I would say most likely nothing would come of it. It's more likely that there could be criminal consequences for improper conduct in his official role(s).

Craftysue · 25/09/2026 16:09

I don't think he will on sex abuse charges but possibly relating to his time as the trade envoy - he deserves everything he gets. It doesn't seem like Charles will cover for him like his mother did.

Whilst AMW is a nasty, arrogant piece of scum I do think he is being used to divert attention from hundreds of very wealthy mostly American men who did far worse to those poor girls than he ever did.

VG described sadistic practices from other men, as have some of the other victims.

Also some other victims were only 13/14.

Not in single American has been charged with anything.

Neither has the prosecutor Alex Acosta who inexplicably sanctioned Epstein’s first conviction as a sweetheart deal, relabelling it as “soliciting a minor for prostitution” with zero jail time which then enabled Epstein to continue and increase his abuse of children and young women for many years to come.

This sanitising also left room for denial of reality those for who it was convenient to continue to do business with Epstein. They all clearly knew what he was like but thanks to Alex Acosta they had plausible deniability.

AMW is putrid to have had sex with a girl of his daughter’s age and to be entitled enough to think she would want to do so and to have no consideration that here was a young girl in an abusive situation but sadly he is not the worst and the worst are still getting away with it scot free.

Edited

I’m a bit weary of the argument that AMW is somehow a scape goat for the others that is often repeated on the RF threads. I wonder why that is?

The UK need to lead the way and prosecute our own. It is ludicrous to expect any proper justice from the current incumbents of the White House.

AMW was representing the UK in an official capacity when he committed many of his alleged crimes. He not only allegedly abused vulnerable women, he also shared important state documents with third parties, he allegedly committed fraud with his deals on the side and he allowed very unsuitable people in to the royal palaces eg the alleged Chinese spy scandal. We need to prosecute him full stop.

Whether that will happen is another matter altogether. I think they will find a way for Mandelsohn to get off scot free and there will be some sort of fudge around AMW.

In the meantime, according to Lownie, AMW is protected and living life as usual pretty much, holidaying in the Middle East and in the South of France. Plus ça change!

Unfortunately it’s virtually impossible to prosecute for malfeasance in public office.

No wonder the level of corruption in the UK has risen exponentially!

Venusunbroken · 25/09/2026 17:38

No, not for this, and I believe he is arrogant enough to think he thinks it was consensual , that as much as she was 17 and trafficked he would have thought she wanted to shag him . And enjoyed it. I beleive he’s that guy, that arrogant and narcissistic

for the treason stuff of passing on trade info, I suspect he may. I don’t think Charles will protect him any more than William would protect Harry
