The royal family

What do Savile, Weinstein, Epstein, Maxwell and Spacey all have in common?

I’m struggling to understand the appeal of all these people - why does there seem to be so much hosting of sexual predators in the royal properties?

OP posts:

They’re all men.

They’re all men.

Except Maxwell if that's the one the OP meant.

I think it's appalling to group Spacey with the likes of Savile and Epstein and Weinstein. He has been vindicated in every court on every charge, in both the U.S, and the UK, and has never bought anyone off to settle a case.

Also, bloody brilliant actor. That would be the appeal.

Yes he was found not guilty.
Any other accusations have never made it to court.

The royals are the most useful of useful idiots! If you can align yourself with a royal then it provides the best ever cover for wrongdoing.

Power and money.

I’m curious - how many men have been hosted on a royal property in the last 45 years in total? (Assuming Savile was hosted in the 1980s)? Would be good if you could put these predators (or alleged, in one case) in context…

It’s just access to power. That’s what you need to hide in plain sight. For some it’s playing golf with the chief constable, world famous people have access to more power

CagneyNYPD1 · 28/10/2025 18:16

Power, money and influence.

I agree with this. See also Mohammed Al Fayed (another sexual predator) courting Princess Diana so intensely.

Wrong to put Spacey casually in this group. Just goes to show how people love the scandal,
even if it’s not true.

As for the others, I don’t know if OP’s naivety is genuine. They seemed successful and plausible, so obviously they’re going to move in the same circles, alongside with plenty of people who are normal 🤷‍♀️.

I’m tired of this salacious sexual moral outrage about celebrities. There does seem to be something quite perverse about it, ironically. A lot of mumsnetters love it though.
