Why was the King’s favourite bagman smuggled into Windsor Castle for a secret meeting with him - against the advice of Camilla and William?
Did he bring more bags of cash? The names of more Saudi billionaires looking for passports and honours in exchange for money? So many questions that will never be answered.

That man is a rubber ball, sacked so many times but bounces back

CathyorClaire · 05/10/2025 09:45

C3 has said "I can manage without just about anyone except Michael"

I doubt this is the first time rubber sword Mick has visited in secret.

100%

There is a big Difference between saying you are cutting someone off and actually doing it.

To Charles he will be a valued friend and employee and he drops the employee bit when he has to

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/10/2025 11:42

I hadn't seen this, but it's not clear when it's supposed to have happened, with some reports saying it was "several months ago" and others suggesting it was when Fawcett actually resigned for the umpteenth time

In any case does anyone really imagine they won't still be in touch ... and possibly for the same reason Paul Burrell had to be got off the hook too?

MrsLeonFarrell · 05/10/2025 13:38

Any context for this story?

Any context for this story?

Look it up: plenty of background details about MF and KC3

Wasntmeanttobelikethis · 05/10/2025 22:18

And allegations only allowed to be published on foreign outlets; injunctions; strong whiff of another Royal cover up?

padronpepper · 05/10/2025 22:36

@Wasntmeanttobelikethis
This was in the Mail on Sunday this morning. They have done Trojan work digging up the the stories the RF would prefer remain buried.
Their other RF headlines this morning had Thomas Markle wondering if Meghan would attend his funeral if he died in the earthquake he has been caught up in, and also they had a photograph of Andrew with a shooting party he hosted at his mother’s shooting lodge in 2000 - Epstein and Maxwell among the guests.

I know the background, I wanted to know if it was a recent story since i couldn't see anything in the press online.

The excuses for this are really quite bizarre.
They really are. It most definitely is one rule for the RF and completely different rule for everyone else.

And there's other sources

Why does he need a goodbye meeting or is it just farewell for now? I thought he left years ago

It's called a 'farewell audience' even though he left in 2021
The excuses for this are really quite bizarre.

According to that article

Fawcett was cleared by the police in 2023
The King often does farewell audiences for staff
This particular one happened some months ago
These can get delayed by sickness or diary clashes

Bearing that all in mind I don't find the delay that strange. I do wonder why it's in all the papers, presumably to link the King with Fawcett again since they aren't getting traction with anything else they have thrown at him recently.

If the King was taking him back as an advisor that would be cause for concern. I believe that Charles has shown himself to be unwisely loyal to his friends in the past and too slow to drop them when criminal behaviour has been alleged. But this, a story about a routine audience with someone he valued but no longer employs, I don't see what the problem is.

padronpepper · 06/10/2025 13:42

According to that article Charles was advised not to meet Fawcett the Fence by both Camilla and William who feared damaging publicity if it was revealed that the meeting took place. But there we go again - the most senior member of the RF who appears lacking in common sense.

He left (supposedly) in 2021. 4 years for a 'farewell (but I'll see you again soon, just make sure you go in the back door) audience'?

Yeah right.

I doubt the article's author would be in a position to know that, but if Fawcett wanted something there may have been a risk of even worse publicity if he didn't get it

And AFAIK we still can't tell when this meeting actually was. "Some months" could mean anything from when Fawcett was cleared (yeah, right Hmm) to this August just gone, though the usual lack of clarity may suggest it's more recent

I see it's also reported that Fawcett's son Olly has just crashed one company owing HMRC £500k and started another, so who knows if this meeting may have involved more gifts of "small amounts of money"

Yeah right.

I'm assuming that Charles couldn't have met him until he was cleared (I'm dubious about the decision) so that shrinks the timeline.

Whatever is going on here I think it is interesting that this story has been published at this time.

It smacks of one of those stories that they can’t write about so the subject matter is hinted at instead.
