Prince Harry's pal steps down from Invictus Games after Duke's charity row | Royal | News | Express.co.uk

Charity trustees are the guardians of the charity, ensuring it is well-governed, law-abiding, financially sound, and working only for its charitable purposes. It seems that Invictus has lost JJ Chalmers as a Trustee for unspecified reasons.

This adds to the turnover at Invictus.

IMHO, the excessive churn of personnel at Invictus serves as a red flag that all is not well at the charity.

Invictus has lost Peter Lawless (CEO) and Bill Cooper (Chief Commercial Officer) who were both part of the Vancouver–Whistler 2025 organizing team but were abruptly removed from their posts in late 2023. Dominic Reid (Founding CEO) left earlier in 2025 as did Mickaela Richards (Grants and Programmes Director).

Invictus WAS great, it just stinks these days of H&M taking the piss. I suspect people are going if they see it’s become a farce or if they say no they’re quickly disposed of IMO

I am not sure why Invictus maintains a Patron who has called the future head of the armed services his "archnemesis" and the current head of the armed services a "racist" via his proxy Omid.

It does not seem a sustainable strategy, particularly when W eventually becomes King. And future KG7 will likely have a similarly negative view of a charity that supported an uncle who attacked his mother in print and via proxies.

JJ Chalmers’ 2 year term has come to an end with Invictus and he’s decided not to extend it due to having a young family and work commitments but continues with Invictus as an ambassador. I’m not sure what you are alluding to but Google is your friend. Honestly the amount of bashing Megan and Harry get is insane, even their charitable work. It’s no wonder that they moved to the US who can blame them.

jeffgoldblum · 01/09/2025 08:56

It’s spelled Meghan .

MinnieCauldwell · 01/09/2025 09:03

No fan of H and M but it is common for Trustees to step aside after 2 years.

I don’t agree. Unless it’s a very small charity the role of a Trustee is very similar to Non-Executive Director (NED) at a company, and two years would be a very short tenure, in my experience. Hard to justify for a large and globally active organisation like Invictus too, giving the onerous requirements placed on people entering both roles to undertake a comprehensive, formal and tailored introduction to their role and understand the culture of the organisation. It’s not meant to be a revolving door process - especially given the need to have clear succession planning to replace Trustees/NEDs.

The UK Corporate Governance Code envisages NEDS will be in place for six years, and should not remain in their role for more than nine. Obviously you don’t want people in their role for very long periods (Sentabale had that problem) but a two year appointment in large organisation is not usual.

Of course neither I nor anyone else on this thread will have seen the actual contract here. Invictus may have had a good reason to appoint JJ Chalmers for a very short term- Harry could have wanted to help his friend develop his leadership CV perhaps?

They receive criticism for what they do from Americans as well.
Where could they move to in order to avoid that?

Oh dear Ladyy - scratch beneath the surface of these two characters and their ‘charity’ work and it’s all
pretty murky / self serving! I’d guess
thats why they don’t want the press sticking their beaks in, they no doubt would unearth plenty of things they’d rather keep hidden away!

Mylovelygreendress · 01/09/2025 12:49

@Ladyymuck. They left the U.K. because they didn’t get the half in half out deal they wanted .

My2cents1975 · 01/09/2025 13:08

Rewriting history will not change the fact that there are enough red flags regarding the churn at Invictus to decorate a communist party conference.

H has ongoing issues at African Parks and has departed Sentebale under a cloud. The pattern is there for any objective individual to assess.

Shock horror people move roles every few years. 💁‍♀️ how is this a churn of people you've listed two people, one who was let go, and one who has moved on after 2 yrs...thats not a churn of people.

What’s your threshold number then to define churn?

Also let’s not forget all of rafts of people who left M&H’s employ (KP/BP, Archwell etc ), Sussex survivors club … I think the smoke we see is toxic gases to be honest.

Its not rhe numbers for me if someone joins and leaves in a month or two and that continues to happen then id be wondering why. People who have bene there for longer not so much, people join for experience etc. Some people move around every 2 or 3 yrs. The for some life circumstances chnage and thats why they leave.

But I see people who dont stay longer than a few weeks or months an indicator that something isnt right

Mylovelygreendress · 04/09/2025 13:12

According to Richard Eden in the DM , there is a lot of unhappiness about Harry’s role in Invictus . Apparently for Invictus Birmingham there is hope that some of the RF will attend but if Harry is still involved they might not . And definitely won’t if Meghan is there.
The article is behind a paywall and i don’t know how to Archive .

@Spectre8sometimes it takes a while to see the skullduggery, plus you can hold out in a post longer if the bulllies aren’t in the office every day, that way JJ would have a solid tick on his cv … now let’s just remember all of those whispers behind closed NDA’s about upset staff / high turnover staff when working close to bully and dum-dum 😉

Agree - so like Christine Weil Schirmer and Josh Kettlet?

Gutfeld is the number one late night show with over 3 million viewers nightly and the show is skewed towards a Republican party point of view. Earlier this week host Greg Gutfeld and a guest shared an exchange that was less than complementary to H&M, much to the audience's delight.

A negative image of the pair is now baked into their target US environment, which does not bode well for H's ability to engage in high-profile charity activities or M's tradwife retail strategy as both target markets lean heavily Republican.

Aside from paid US media in the usual entertainment outlets, H is pretty much absent in the broader US media. Perhaps this is why H, despite his lack of security, trumpets every visit to the UK as he gets precious media attention that has some positivity.

Are there any As Ever products for sale related to this ‘second series’ of WLM?

Has the big announcement of the NF collab with her business actually happened - where MM was boasting that NF approached her to sell AE merch to accompany the WLM series in their stores in the US?

Or has this been dropped and conveniently forgotten about?

Was she asked about this in the Bloomberg interview?

I wonder what she will now do with the 1m empty jam jars she boasted about ordering? Maybe she will get out the glittery gel-pens to decorate them and fill with sweets to sell on a stand at A&L school Christmas fete!!

My2cents1975 · 09/09/2025 08:47

Apparently, Edward Lane Fox left Invictus in February 2025.

Prince Harry dealt major blow as another key ally quits

Perhaps this is why the very private Duke shared his very private visit to his dear grandmother's grave. The same DGM who he couldn't be bothered visiting while she was alive, the same DGM whose famous speech he edited in his reality series, the same DGM whose Monarchy and Commonwealth he derided and attacked. What a ghoul clinging to corpses!

Team fairytale...the odds are not in your favor.
